Frequently Asked Questions

1. As a salesperson, will I see you during the construction process to make sure I am getting what you sold me?

We will be with you every step of the way from design through construction, to completion. At completion, we will instruct you on the use of your pool and either set up a service contract or instruct you on caring for the pool yourself. You will always have access to the person who originally met with you to make sure you are getting everything you were promised.

2. Is the price quoted the final price, or are there any potential add-ons or hidden costs?

The price we quote is the price you pay. However, if you ask to make changes during the design or construction phase of the process, the price can go either up or down. In our proposal there are some allowances. One is an allowance for excavation time because that is the biggest unknown in the construction process. Also, extra cost can arise if rock or other unknown underground conditions occur during excavation. However, you have the option to approve the cost prior to continuing the excavation of the pool.

3. How long can I expect it to take to build my pool?

Generally we tell customers it takes 6 to 8 weeks from the time construction begins. In some instances it can take longer because of the overall complexity of the job.

4. How long will it take before I can use my new pool?

Once a pool is completed and full of water, the startup procedures can take up to one week before you and your family can be swimming and enjoying your new pool.

5. What is the best way to insure pool safety for my children and animals?

First and most important is a fence with self closing and self latching gates, required by nearly all municipalities. The addition of an automatic safety cover provides a second layer of safety. With an automatic cover, once the cover is closed and the key is removed from the locking mechanism that opens and closes the cover, no one can gain access to the pool. Aside from the safety considerations, there are other benefits of an automatic cover, as well. One is the overall cleanliness of the pool, since the cover will keep out most of the debris. Another is the insulation of the pool. Ninety percent of the heat loss in a pool is through the surface of the pool, so by keeping the cover on the pool when it is not in use, you will greatly increase the daily water temperature during the swimming season, which extends the amount of time that you can comfortably swim while reducing heating costs.

6. When is the best time to install a pool?

Town and Country Pools constructs pools year-round. However the best time to build a pool is before spring and summer. This allows you to have your pool and surrounding landscaping done by the first warm day and this gives your family a full season to enjoy your new pool.

9. Will my pool have a warranty?

With today's automation, pool chemical testing and maintenance can take only a few minutes a week. You can cut down on maintenance by installing such features as an automatic pool cleaner, the addition of a Salt/Chlorine Generator, and oversized filtrations systems. Ask your Town and Country representative about all of the timesaving options that are available.

11. This FAQ is one of the most important questions that you need to ask.

“How should I go about selecting the best pool builder for me?”

Interview your prospective pool contractor carefully. What is his reputation in the community? Do you know a friend or neighbor that has used the same company with good results? How long has he been in business and what is his experience? What is his standing with your local Building Department? Is he a member of the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals “APSP”? (Formally the National Pool and Spa Institute). If so, is he designated a NSPI Certified Building Professional?

When you have identified possible candidates, open up the yellow pages and call independent pool service companies in the area. Ask them to comment on the pool company you are considering. After all, they service the pools when completed and are in the best position to give an independent opinion.
